Monaco Grand Prix 2012

The_Montecarlo's_harbour_during_the_days_of_Formula_1_Monaco_GP_2013It’s the ultimate date in the Formula 1 diary: the highly anticipated and electrifying Monaco Grand Prix 2012 which takes place at the end of the month.

The world’s most glamorous and exciting Formula One Grand Prix will this year take place between May 24th and 27th, overlapping with the final weekend of the Cannes Film Festival.

For three days the Principality of Monaco, from where many of our Mediterranean yacht charters embark, is turned into one of the most daring race tracks on earth.

The race, now in it’s 70th year, is watched by thousands in the stands and by millions more across the globe on television, many particularly enjoying the spectacle of  formula 1 cars navigating the narrow course through the streets of Monaco. With a number of extremely tight corners as well as a tunnel on the left side of the Port – which is in view of many of our corporate yacht charters –  the circuit is thought of as one of the most technically demanding in Formula One.

Monaco 1996The drivers have to race around the track 78 times, covering a distance of just over 260km and in spite of the relatively low average speeds this Grand Prix is renowned for its high number of incidents and accidents.

The event has also become synonymous with glitz and glamour, with many of the actors and actresses who descend on the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival prolonging their stay to attend the Grand Prix whilst also enjoying a Mediterranean yacht charter.

And it’s certainly not all about racing cars. The port of Monaco has already begun to fill up with some of the world’s most luxurious super yachts, the owners of which all want to be in the thick of the action for the Grand Prix.

The parties held on board some of those super yachts are legendary and those hiring a corporate yacht charter for The Monaco Grand Prix couldn’t be better situated for a truly memorable weekend.
